A Few Tips for Cyber Safety:

1. Create strong passwords. They should always be at least 12 characters long while includings numbers and special symbols. Never repeat passwords across sites, and to remember them, use a password manager with Multi-Factor Authentication.

2. Never act with urgency. Cybercriminals always say its an urgent matter to send over money. Always make sure to check with family, friends, or professionals before even considering sending anything over the internet.

3. Establish a safe code word with your family to enhance security in the event of a Family Impersonation Scam.

4. Don’t trust everything you see or hear. Deepfaking and Voice AI technologies are becoming more advanced, making it appear as if government officials, celebrities, and family are speaking to you.

5. WHEN IN DOUBT, DON’T CLICK LINKS. Banks, government agencies, and other companies won’t send you links in emails! It is more likely than not a scammer. Go straight to the source.

6. Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Sensitive Information: Don’t log into banking or shopping accounts on public Wi-Fi without a VPN.

7. Think Before You Post: If you wouldn’t tell your family, don’t share it! Anything you post can be screenshotted and shared forever, even if you delete it. Nothing on the internet disappears.
